GODA GALA (LORD NELSON WRECK/ROCK ISLAND)

GODA GALA (LORD NELSON WRECK/ROCK ISLAND)

This dive site is known by multiple names due to what can be seen here including countless reefs (rocks) and a recent ship wreck which sunk in the year 1998. This is one of our most common dive sites due to the easy access from Unawatuna beach (5 minute boat ride).
Additionally, this is the dive site most commonly used for our beginner divers due to the following reasons, it’s one of the safest from being affected by outgoing currents; it’s a short boat ride from Sun Diving Center; we can still see countless quantities of marine life/species even at just 10 meters, and we want you to have the best first-time experience, so we even bring you to explore part of a ship wreck that lays down there!
Many underwater explorers love this site due to the endless amount of species and life they can find within the shipwreck and living by the reefs, these include colourful reef fish, blue boxfish, morays, lobsters and octopus. We can also find beautiful gardens of flora and fauna in this area. The maximum depth for the diver is 10 meters and minimum of 2 meters making this an easy and accessible dive for all levels.
